We’ve got so much on the web,
and we still use the ancient “web browser.”
Dashboards are becoming popular and there’s a reason — they rock!!
Until I get my dashboards going, and with my custom widgets!
I currently have several Pages of several Tabs in several Browsers, open at one time.
My work has me hopping from document, to document, and yes, I use Google docs.
The current organization I have is
- Personal – this page with multiple tabs has for instance, this blog for posting and a couple personal writing pieces I’m developing, as well as some research, and a TED talk waiting for me to listen to it when I have “that” moment.
- My Projects – there I have the tabs that includes my Concept Papers, Statistical Research, Pitches, Stories and brainstorms of content. Sometimes it may have specifications, slides and videos for this content.
- Research – for my current job I’m researching, testing and looking at what each cloud Dashboard uses, what API, data format, widgets, security, whether it can be White labeled, and brought to our servers, OpenSource, etc. We’ve got particulars of how we may work with it. I’m the proponent for Dashboards in the company. So this is my self researching it with the idea to Pitch it, when I know who the programmer is…. Been looking for this programmer for years. May we find him/her/them.
- Work – Discussions, Meetings notes, Specifications, Use Cases, Timesheets, mostly in the blue and green tabs of Google docs.
And that’s just in one browser, today, with 4 pages and several Tabs in each. I’ve regularly close as many tabs as possible, and don’t have myself on Social Media sites during this work period. I do have the browser that contains the music and that which helps keep me sane while working at my desk.
And this is so primitive.
I look forward to the day where it’s easier to be a telecommuter, to work on my multiple missions without getting lost in my multiple browsers, especially with limited recall and hunting through tabs that have nothing to mark them except the beginning of the naming of the page.
This is the work I’m being called by the universe to develop, for part of it pays me, yet the part that gets me inspired, is to invent and create, develop and have it available — ways for us to architect our worlds online and thus in our embodiment.
The purpose for me is to help us design and architect our body’s, minds, homes, and online experiences, to choose what we love and what truly serves us, and to have that choice. And, what I’m hired for by my mentors, to have that choice privately without being disturbed, menaced or our information outright stolen and us being watched by “Big Brother” without us even knowing.
It’s different than they imagined in the Orwellian, and Huxleyian worlds. Our information bubbles can lead us to what we love more, yet it can also lead to us being swayed and convinced, taunted, suggested and manipulated with media that’s made to twist our minds. Thus, we must trust our sources, know who they are, and choose to receive from them. It’s a tall order, yet my mentor wants it done and hires me to help.
