At the Consciousness Hacking Meetup in San Francisco yesterday, I had my first NeuroFeedback experience and it’s a good time to do it. Today’s brain and consciousness technology is enhancing quickly, and the NeuroAwakening neurofeedback system did indeed create an experience for me.
NeuroAwakening is not the same as other types of Neurofeedback where a set of “normal” people’s brains are averaged and sent back to your brain to liken itself to. Instead, NeuroAwakening’s technique sends a mirror of your brain back to you, in effect dis-entraining traumatic patterns that are blockages.
“It [LENS Neurofeedback] triggers an assessment and evaluation of what you are doing at a fundamental level. The LENS prompts an updating or examination of brain operation. An analogy might be similar to rebooting your computer for a fresh start or defragmenting your hard drive (brain) for optimal system performance. ” ~LENS article
When Grant Rudolph from Echo Rock Therapy attached the the neurofeedback system to me, the ground wires clamped to my ears, and the brain reading node clipped to my forehead, I asked what I was supposed to do now, he suggested to sense any changes or shifts in my body or senses. I closed my eyes so that I may tune into myself easily during the meetup, I immediately felt a tingling in the right side of my head. I felt that, enjoyed the tickle, the tickle moved deeper and deeper into the right side of my head, and then it went from the top center of my forehead to the top of my head to the top back of my head. There were waves a tickles and tingles like this. I allowed my brain to feel it go deep in the right side of my brain, it was like itching a depth in my brain I’d been wanting to touch.
In my personal contemplative meditations, visualizations and mindfulness practices, I have at times focused on the right side of my brain, opening it, breathing into it, sending light to it and inducing brain signaling, and there was a similar tickle, that felt like a breath of fresh air, not just an itch or a tingle, it was like opening a part of me that had been closed, and I was operating on a new path.
Grant asked me if I had experienced anything, I said yes, and I noticed that my chin released. My chin had been an emotional indication of sadness, when I was being traumatized as a child at home, I had begun pinching my chin, rather than letting my lower lip, which naturally hung open, hang, I pursed my lips closed, in a hiding of my emotions… It was amazing to feel a sudden release in that as I’ve been consciously releasing tension in my jaw and lip area for years, to not have only minor shift and new recognitions of how to hold my body. With this neurofeedback, it was instant. And the other aspect I noticed is that my right eye opened and brightened. I’m right handed yet I use my left eye more than my right. The right side of my face feels pinched, held back, clamped up and has for years, I smile crookedly as if part of my face is numb or frozen, and I’ve had scoliosis in my spine since my teenage years.
I learned something about myself — apparently I had a head injury at a young age that may have created the physical and emotional stagnation that I’ve been dealing with with the numb face, crooked spine and that not in my neck that hasn’t gone away since I was a child.
And when I opened my eyes, the scene changed, everything had more light in it, the screen that I had been looking at earlier with my brain being monitored was suddenly lighter, and less contrasted in darkness… And then I also felt and airy, yet aware state for the rest of the night.
“You’re launched,” said Grant, now see what it does for you for the next few days, and see how your meditation practice changes.
I’m very excited to have done this and to do more neurofeedback with the system that Grant from Echo Rock is sharing.
I’m deciding now that I will learn more about it!
I’ll know more soon, as I’m studying Quantum biofeedback systems using the voice, sound and music to shift the mind this summer. It’s binaural brain phasing with multimedia — giving your mind and senses full spectrum sound, visual and vibrational feedback.
If you’d like to know more, I’m curating a retreat that includes this, stay tuned and ask for more by contacting me at my name at this domain.
